The Evidence for Oxygen (Clara E. Mackenzie Building, Room 215)

Oxygen is the one of the most abundant elements on Earth, being found in rocks, water, and the air. Given how common it is, you would think it would be easy to see it. It is not. As an element it is invisible, and proving this colorless, odorless gas is present in the air is challenging. Professor Joseph Gibbons will guide participants to generate some experimental evidence in this hands-on activity to prove its presence in air with materials that can be done it at home. *Please scroll down to read the activity details listed below.*

The Evidence for Oxygen

Location: Clara E. Mackenzie Building, Room 215

Length of Each Session: 30-minute activity

Available Sessions: Sessions start every 30 minutes, beginning at 10:00 AM. 

Registration: The group's main contact person will complete the above form to register.  When prompted, please type in the total number of guests in your party before adding to cart - maximum of 5 guests per registration.  

Check-In Process: Check-in will begin approximately 5-minutes prior to each session.  Late arrivals will not be permitted to avoid disruption of other guests.

Session Capacity: Each session can accommodate up to 28 guests.  

Activity Notes:

  • This program is available for guests of all ages and abilities.
  • Please be aware of your session's designated start time.  We anticipate each session to fill.   
  • A confirmation email will be sent after registration is successful.  Please bring a copy of the confirmation email (printed or digital) for check-in purposes.
